Two new Hotglove vehicles arrive for Northern Powergrid

Two new Unimog vehicles with Versalift insulated aerial access platforms have entered service for Northern Powergrid in the Yorkshire Dales.

VLS contract manager, Ken Harrison, said: “Our Hotglove vehicles are designed to enable repair work to be carried out safely on live power lines. The latest two were delivered into Northallerton and familiarisation training was provided by Versalift and the Unimog dealer South Cave Tractors. A number of Hotglove Linesmen and supervisors were present and pleased to see the new arrivals. These two vehicles, like two others of the same specification delivered at the start of the year, are 13.5 tonnes and so have a greater capacity than their predecessors which were 12.5 tonnes. The 40-foot insulated platform is now the main standard in the fleet of 11 live-line Unimog access platforms.”

VLS (Vehicle Lease & Service) provides vehicle leasing, fleet funding, fleet management and maintenance services across the UK with a focus on delivering innovation, compliance and efficiency to ensure customers’ fleets are fit for the future.
