VLS’ Plastic Body at the Commercial Vehicle Show

At the recent Commercial Vehicle show held at the Birmingham NEC, Vehicle Lease and Service Ltd had a Ford Ranger Supercab Plastic Body presented at the Strongs Plastic Body stand.

Working in partnership with Strongs for the last 2 years, VLS have developed a reusable body for the Northumbrian Water Limited fleet. The plastic body’s main characteristics are as follows:

• Lightweight – yielding lower fuel costs
• Corrosion resistance – able to withstand a variety of aggressive chemicals
• Isolative properties – with electrical insulating properties
• Heat resistance
• Flexibility – Internal layouts can vary across a fleet having a uniform appearance
• Impact resistance and ease of repair – can be welded in the event of damage
• Plug and Play Electrics – modular loom elements can easily be replaced in the event of damage
• Hygienic – Copolymer surfaces are easy to keep clean and hygienic
• Low maintenance
• Excellent internal visibility and sound insulation
• 100% recyclable at end of life
• One stop shop – completed vehicle delivered straight from the factory

At present VLS have 2 approved designs with Northumbrian water – the Distribution/Trunk Mains design and the Ground Water Station design.
